Pollution Awareness Tour held by Govt. Degree College Kotranka

Govt Degree College Kotranka today organized pollution awareness tour of the students to Ans river under the aegis of NSS unit of the college and the Department of Environmental Sciences. The purpose of the tour was to make aware the students about importance of water bodies in combating the pollution, and the impact of pollution on our environment in general and on river and other water bodies in particular. Speaking about the menace of pollution and its impact on society, Dr Mohd Mushtaq, Programme Officer NSSsaid that the world is facing many problems due to air and water pollution and lacs of people are losing their lives which can be prevented by solving the problem of pollution. He asked the students to keep their surrounding and water bodies clean and play their parts in keeping our environment clean. Miss Rubia Kouser, HoD Department of Environmental Sciences explained the types of pollution and impact of pollution on our environment. She added that pollution is the main factor behind climate change and if continued, it will be difficult for our future generations to survive. The stressed that it is our collective responsibility to safeguard the environment and keep our surrounding clean. Dr MohdArshaq, Dr Makhan Din and Mr Waseem Akram also spoke on the occasion. Principal of the College Dr Rajinder Singh commended the NSS Unit of the college and the Department of Environmental Sciences for organising this tour to spread awareness about the Environmental Pollution among the students. He asked the students and the faculty members of the college to play their part in keeping the Environment pollution free.
